The other day I received a refund check from something I decided not to persue and went to the bank to cash it and you will be appaled by what I experienced. Now to start to pave the way for the rest of the story, I used to work at a bank and we were told that as long as the check was from one of our accounts, the funds were available and we felt as though it wasn't fraud to go ahead and cash the check.
Now here it comes, are you ready? I walked into the bank, check and license in hand, the check was signed and I approached the teller. I will give you the play by play below:
Me: Hello I would like to please cash this check.
Teller: Do you have an account with us?
Me: I do not bank here
Teller: Oh ok, well there is a $6 fee to cash this check and we need your thumb print on the check as well.
Me: That is unacceptable, the check is drawn on an account from your bank, the check is signed and you have my license, that is enough to cash the check and I refuse to pay a fee.
Teller: Well you can talk to the manager then.
So I wait 10 minutes to talk with the bank manager and get the same response from her. I just don't get it. Why should I have to pay a fee to cash a check and more so put my thumb imprint on the check!
This is absolutely unacceptable and the reason I will never bank with the communist controlled bank named BANL OF AMERICA!
